SYDNEY, Jan 21 AAP - A nine-year-old boy has been attacked by a dog in Sydney, on the same day as a toddler was mauled by a dog in Brisbane.
Emergency services were called to a house at Ermington, in western Sydney, at about 5pm (AEDT) on Wednesday after reports of a dog attack, a police spokeswoman said.
"The boy sustained lacerations to his leg and was treated by ambulance officers," the spokeswoman said.
He is expected to be taken from the River Road house to The Children's Hospital at Westmead.
Police from Rosehill are investigating the attack, the details of which have not been released.
In another incident on Wednesday, a 10-month-old girl was attacked by a dog on Nettleton Crescent at Moorooka, in Brisbane's south, about 1.30pm (AEST), the Department of Emergency Services said.
The girl suffered puncture wounds to her hands, arms and face and was rushed to Mater Children's Hospital, where she is in a stable condition.
