Fed: Extend helping hand to those in need: Rudd

The Prime Minister has called on Australians to lend a hand to those in need as the world financial crisis bites.
Speaking at an Australia Day reception at Government House in Melbourne .. Mr RUDD said last night this year will contain extraordinary challenges for Australians with the impact of the global financial crisis.
Mr RUDD says he has great confidence in Australians to exhibit a resilience .. a steeliness .. a calm and resolve .. which together with an appropriately formed policy .. will see Australia through.
More than one-thousand people gathered in the grand ballroom of Government House .. in the heart of Melbourne's Kings Domain .. to celebrate the coming of Australia's national day on January 26.
