SYDNEY, Jan 24 AAP - More than 100 people were caught with drugs at the Sydney leg of the Big Day Out music festival.
Summer temperatures soared as a sell-out crowd of 55,000 people packed into Olympic Park at Homebush on Friday.
A search of 258 suspects resulted in 107 people detained for drug violations, a police spokesman said.
Most of the offences involved cannabis possession with police issuing a range of warnings, infringement notices and arrests.
Last year, police made 86 drug-related arrests at the festival.
The heat-wave conditions on Friday did not deter the fans.
The doors opened at 10am (AEDT) with the music starting up before midday and ending just after midnight.
Police patrolled the venue with sniffer dogs.
Several people were caught trying to jump the fence and gain free entry and one woman was pushed over and robbed of her ticket.
Artists this year included Neil Young, The Grates, Sneaky Sound System, Arctic Monkeys and The Living End.
