24 Jan 2009 12:02 PM

Ground crews and water bombing aircraft are continuing to attack a bushfire which has burnt out 12-hundred hectares of national park land on the New South Wales south coast.

The fire has been burning since a lightning storm on Tuesday .. in a remote area of the Budawang National Park near Bateman's Bay.

It's one of 13 blazes burning across NSW as the state swelters through heatwave temperatures.

The Rural Fire Service says no properties are under threat and firefighters have managed some backburning overnight.

Firefighters have also contained a bushfire in the Morton National Park .. 25 kilometres from Nowra.

A total fire ban has been declared from Newcastle down to Batemans Bay .. with hot .. dry windy conditions predicted and a very high to extreme fire danger across parts of the state.

A cool change is expected to blow in later today or early tomorrow with more moderate temperatures to follow.
