NSW: Police appealing for information on stolen mud crabs

SYDNEY, Jan 29 AAP - A man has been arrested after allegedly trying to sell stolen mud crabs to pub patrons, NSW police say.
The 32-year-old man from Wooloweyah, on the NSW north coast, was arrested while trying to sell the crabs to pub-goers at a South Grafton hotel around 8pm (AEDT) on Wednesday, police said.
The mud crabs are believed to be part of an estimated 20kg of crabs reported stolen from the home of a licensed fisherman at Lake Wooloweyah during the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Most of the $2,500 haul is still outstanding and investigators from Grafton are appealing to any members of the public who know the whereabouts of the remaining mud crabs or have been offered cheap crabs to contact police.
The man has been charged with two counts of having suspected stolen goods in custody and one count of stealing.
He is due to appear in Grafton Local Court on February 23.
