GOLD COAST, Qld, Jan 29 AAP - Police investigating the road rage shooting of a Gold Coast man have received a flood of calls after an emotional appeal by his grieving partner.
Omega Ruston, 32, was shot and left to die after a minor altercation as he drove home from Australia Day celebrations at Burleigh Heads on Monday night.
After stopping his ute on the Gold Coast Highway he got out and approached a red or maroon sedan carrying three people. He was shot twice in the abdomen at point blank range.
Courtney Kete, his devastated partner and mother of their 10-month-old baby, on Wednesday issued an emotional plea for information about the killers.
"A substantial number of calls have been made to Crime Stoppers and the investigating team is working through every one of them, assessing the information that's come in," a police spokesman said.
"They're very pleased with the response, even though there's been no major breakthrough yet."
The officer in charge of the manhunt, Detective Inspector Marc Hogan, said he was sure someone was withholding vital information about the three men, one of them described as being of Middle Eastern appearance.
