CANBERRA, Feb 6 AAP - Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has demanded Opposition Leader Malcolm Turnbull to "get out of the road" and pass the government's $42 billion stimulus package.
Mr Rudd was speaking during a break of an all-day forum of the businesses and bureaucrats who have been asked to spend the government's money.
He said the message from the forum was that groups were ready to start on their projects now.
The package has yet to pass the Senate and the opposition says it will vote against it.
"Only Mr Turnbull stands in the road," Mr Rudd told a press conference in parliament house.
"Therefore I would say to Mr Turnbull and the Liberal party, get out of the road of the government getting on with the job of nation-building and supporting jobs at a time of national economic emergency."
