NSW: Trains slow down as temperatures rise
06 Feb 2009 3:46 PM
A heatwave approaching Sydney will force trains to slow down in anticipation of sagging power lines and buckling tracks.
Temperatures this weekend will hit a high of 34 degrees in the CBD and 44 in the city's west before a southerly change cools things down late on Sunday.
CityRail has ordered train drivers to slow services down by 10 kilometres .. the standard protocol during hot weather.
The restrictions kicked in today and will be re-assessed throughout the weekend as temperatures rise and fall.
