BRISBANE, Feb 24 AAP - Premier Anna Bligh will enter the Queensland election campaign with a healthy lead after Labor suffered a recent fall in popularity, a Newspoll reveals.
On Monday, Ms Bligh called a snap election for March 21, six months before the end of her current term.
A Newspoll in Tuesday's The Australian newspaper puts Labor at 53 per cent, leading non-Labor parties on 47 per cent on a two-party preferred basis.
The poll shows the opposition Liberal National Party making up ground but still trailing Labor.
Labor's vote has dropped four percentage points since late last year while the non-Labor vote has jumped by the same extent.
On the question of who will make a better premier, Ms Bligh retains a healthy 48-31 lead over Opposition Leader Lawrence Springborg.
Ms Bligh's vote has increased by one point while Mr Springborg's vote has fallen by the same amount since late last year.
