NSW: Man arrested in Qld after Sydney man's murder

SYDNEY, Feb 26 AAP - A man has been arrested in north Queensland over the death of a Sydney father-of-two found brutally bashed in his own bathroom.
Just over a week after NSW police said they wanted to speak to 46-year-old tradesman Jian Dong, Queensland police made an arrest at a Flinders Highway truckstop near Richmond on Wednesday.
Mr Dong had been renovating the North Ryde home of Jiang Minghai before Mr Jiang was found dead in his bathroom on January 13.
Police said he had been attacked with a hammer.
Mr Jiang's wife, Yanna Fang, was in China on holidays with their one-year-old son and two-year-old daughter at the time of his death.
She made an emotional plea for public assistance in finding the killer last week, and police said she had been notified of the arrest.
NSW detectives are presently speaking to the man, who was subject to a first instance arrest warrant.
They will apply to extradite him to Sydney when he appears at Townsville Local Court later on Thursday, or on Friday, charged with one count of murder.
His arrest was sparked by an anonymous tip-off to Queensland Police.
Gladesville Local Area Command Crime Manager, NSW Police Detective Inspector Ian McNab, said the arrest was made possible by diligent work and cooperation by investigators in both NSW and Queensland.
"We have worked very closely with our counterparts in Queensland and it is extremely satisfying to see it culminate in a swift result," he said.
