Qld: Alleged spitter charged with assaulting police

BRISBANE, Feb 28 AAP - A man faces charges of assaulting police after he allegedly spat at officers, hitting one in the eye, outside a south Brisbane hotel.
The Wynnum West man, 40, allegedly spat in the eye of one officer and on the shirt of another while they were restraining him on Finucane Road, Alexandra Hills, about 12.30am (AEST) on Saturday.
The man will appear in the Cleveland Magistrates Court on Saturday charged with one count each of failing to leave licensed premises and removal of person from premises, and two counts of serious assault of police.
The officer hit in the eye will undergo medical tests.
