SYDNEY, March 8 AAP - A woman has been killed after driving her four-wheel drive off a railway bridge and into a nearby canal in inner-south Sydney.
Emergency services found the body of the woman in her vehicle when they responded to the accident at the railway bridge at Richardsons Crescent in Tempe, which police say occurred at 7.45pm (AEDT) on Sunday.
A CityRail spokesman said the vehicle crashed into a canal running alongside the rail corridor, and services on the Illawarra line had not been affected.
"The car has ended up inside a canal which runs alongside the rail corridor, but not inside the rail corridor itself," he said.
Authorities are now trying to recover the woman's body, police said.
Inquiries into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
