BRISBANE, March 15 AAP - Queensland's political leaders will be preaching to the faithful this Sunday - and hoping to convert a few disbelievers along the way.
Premier Anna Bligh will sing the praises of the state government at the ALP campaign launch while Opposition Leader Lawrence Springborg will denounce their sins at the LNP's launch.
The lesson will be read at the ALP function by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd ... at the Liberal National Party (LNP) launch by federal Opposition Leader Malcolm Turnbull.
But the day hasn't started well for the premier.
The Galaxy poll published in the Sunday Mail puts the LNP ahead of Labor with a two-point advantage on a two-party preferred basis.
Galaxy principal David Briggs said the two-point lead represents a 5.9 per cent swing to the LNP.
The opposition needs a 7.6 per cent swing to govern in its own right.
And the ALP sacked one of its candidates on Saturday after it was revealed he supported the right of radical muslim cleric Sheik Hilaly to compare Australian women to uncovered meat.
Labor's candidate for the seat of Gympie, Dan Tabone, made the comments in a blog posting in 2006.
And Queensland's biggest environmental disaster continues to be a hot political potato, with the LNP accusing the government of doing too little, too late to clean up the massive oil spill.
