Vic: Bushfires give ABC a boost in Nielsen ratings

Victoria's bushfires have helped push Melbourne's ABC radio station to the top of the ladder in the latest Nielsen surveys.
All ears turned to the station in February as bushfires swept Victoria and the national broadcaster became the official information outlet for communities in the path of the fires.
The ratings show between 5.30am and midnight .. ABC774 lifted its ratings by 1.5 per cent to 15.5 per cent compared to talkback powerhouse 3AW which retreated two per cent to 13.7 per cent for the same period.
The ABC also outperformed 3AW in the key breakfast and morning slots .. although 3AW still leads in breakfast.
On the FM side of the dial FoxFM maintained its dominance with their drive time comic team of HAMISH and ANDY pulling further away from their peers with a 2.1 per cent jump to 21.1 per cent in the 4pm to 7pm slot.
