Flash flooding has cut off parts of northern New South Wales .. including the Pacific Highway.
Motorists are being warned to delay travel to the north with floodwaters closing the highway south of Coffs Harbour near the Boambee Road intersection.
One thousand people have already been isolated by flooding in the Bellinger Valley .. while another three thousand are expected to be cut off tonight.
The Bureau of Meteorology is warning of storm-force winds off the mid-north coast and gale-force winds for most coastal waters .. and it says many regions can expect falls of between 50 and 100mm.
The bureau says the heavy falls could come as far south as Sydney.
