Vic: First Vic Easter road toll victim after car hits tree

MELBOURNE, April 11 AAP - One woman passenger died and another has been badly injured in a car crash on Victoria's Great Ocean Road.
The car slammed into a tree shortly after 4.30pm (AEST), about 10kms west of Apollo Bay, Victoria Police said.
Details are scant but it is believed the male driver escaped with minor injuries and was taken to Apollo Bay hospital.
The injured female passenger, trapped in the wreckage for at least two hours, was airlifted to hospital in Melbourne.
The death is Victoria's first of the Easter Holiday period and the eighth nationally.
