SYDNEY, April 12 AAP - A man has died after his truck ploughed into a tree near Tamworth in central NSW, bringing the state's holiday road toll to five.

Ambulance paramedics were called to the crash site on Weabonga Road at Ogunbil at 2.30pm (AEST) on Sunday, but despite their efforts the 36-year-old driver of the truck died at the scene.

The man is the fifth person to die on the NSW roads over the Easter break.

Three pedestrians have been hit in separate accidents across the state, including a 23-year-old man who was struck by a garbage truck in Randwick, in Sydney's east, on Friday morning.

The man was lying on the road at the time of the incident

The state's first Easter road death came early on Thursday morning when a 16-year-old boy died after a Toyota Corolla driven by a friend crashed into a tree at Revesby, in Sydney's southwest.
