WASHINGTON, April 12 AFP - President Barack Obama said on Sunday the United States remains "resolved" to combat piracy off the Somali coast, after a US captain was rescued by naval forces following a tense five-day hostage crisis.
"We remain resolved to halt the rise of piracy in this region," said Obama in a statement from the White House.
"To achieve that goal, we must continue to work with our partners to prevent future attacks, be prepared to interdict acts of piracy and ensure that those who commit acts of piracy are held accountable for their crimes," he added.
