NSW: Drivers caught dialling rack up $9m in fines

Drivers caught using their mobile phones have racked up a total of $9.3 million in fines in a year .. making it one of the NSW's most common driving offences.
Just under 39-thousand drivers caught in the 2007-08 financial year represented a 65 per cent increase compared to the previous period.
News Limited reports a total of over 369-thousand drivers were fined by police in the 12-month period for a raft of offences and paid $99.6 million.
The total was up from the figure of $85.6 million three years ago.
