SYDNEY, April 15 AAP - A bandana-wearing bandit has fired a shot inside a Sydney Post office after threatening staff and stealing cash, police say.
The man demanded money while pointing a shortened gun at staff at the Australia Post shop on Letitia Street, Oatley, about 1.20pm (AEST) on Wednesday.
"The man then pointed the gun towards a wall and fired a single shot before stealing a sum of cash and walking from the store," a NSW police statement said.
Police said he fled in a silver-coloured early-model sedan, possibly a Mazda 6, and drove south along Letitia Street.
The man has been described as aged in his early twenties, of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean appearance, 168-170cm tall, with olive to dark complexion.
He was wearing dark-coloured clothing and a red bandana or scarf around his head at the time.
