An unrestrained two-year-old boy has died after he was ejected from a car as it crashed in Tasmania's northwest.
Police say the car ran off the Bass Highway and slammed into a low concrete wall a few kilometres east of Smithton after four this afternoon.
The boy was sitting in the back seat and was thrown through the car's rear windscreen or right rear window.
The 27-year-old driver suffered a broken leg and facial injuries.
The boy's 19-year-old mother also suffered a broken leg.
