US President BARACK OBAMA'S top economic adviser says an end to the US economic embargo on Cuba is still a long way off .. despite an unprecedented thawing of rhetoric between the two countries.
In an interview aired on NBC television's Meet the Press program .. adviser LARRY SUMMERS says that scenario is way down the road .. and will depend on Cuba's future policies.
His comments came after days of a remarkable change in tone between the Cold War foes .. with US Secretary of State HILLARY CLINTON saying on Friday the Obama administration was looking for more productive ways of going forward.
And Cuban leader RAUL CASTRO saying on Thursday they're open to discuss everything .. including human rights, freedom of the press and political prisoners.
