NSW: Cable fault to blame for power outage

A faulty cable has caused a major blackout in Sydney city .. sparking the evacuation of hundreds of workers and causing traffic chaos.
About 30 thousand Energy Australia customers .. from Market Street in the CBD to The Rocks .. were without power for about 45 minutes this morning.
Energy Australia spokeswoman KYLIE YATES says a faulty cable caused protection equipment to shut down all four cables that supply power to the city from a station at Lane Cove .. on Sydney's north shore.
The problem is believed to be the same that caused a blackout on March 31 .. when some 70 thousand homes and businesses were left without power in Sydney's CBD.
