A Romanian man who skimmed nearly 20-thousand dollars from ATMs has been jailed for six months.
The Melbourne Magistrates' Court has been told 33-year-old IOAN SELESI was unable to work legally in Australia .. and ordered a skimming device on the internet.
In April he attached it to the security door of a bank in Sydney's George Street .. collecting data which he then used to scam the money from bank accounts while in Sydney and Melbourne.
Police say they found evidence including the magnetic strip card reader when they arrested SELESI at a Melbourne hotel last week.
SELESI's pleaded guilty to six charges including dishonestly obtaining or dealing in personal financial information.
SELESI's been jailed for six months in Victoria .. is likely to be extradited to New South Wales to face further charges .. and also faces deportation from Australia.
