A 51-year-old man armed with a high-powered rifle remains inside a house in Napier after three police officers and a civilian were shot during a routine drug search this morning.
Police say Senior Constable LEN SNEE was fatally wounded and his body is still outside the house.
The area near the house is surrounded by 30 police officers and members of the Armed Offenders Squad.
Some residents have been evacuated and others have been told to stay indoors until the siege is resolved.
The other two officers and civilian are still in a serious condition.
