Fed: More than half of Aussie households haven't got digital

SYDNEY, May 11 AAP - More than half of Australian households are yet to embrace digital television, new figures from measurement company OzTAM show.
According to the data, as of March this year, 43.4 per cent of households across the five major cities can receive the signal through a digital television, or a digital set-top box.
Perth leads the pack with 47.2 per cent of households digitally ready, while Sydney has the least pick-up, with only 40 per cent able to receive the signal.
The analog system will begin being turned off progressively around Australia starting from next year in some areas.
The region around Mildura in Victoria will be the first, in the first half of 2010.
Most of the major capital cities around Australia have until the end of 2013.
The government is actively trying to push Australians to get digitally ready through a campaign and website launched a little over a month ago.
