JPN: Japan acts over fresh swine flu cases, world figures soar

Officials in Japan are closing schools and cancelling public events in the western city of Kobe .. after eight high school students tested positive for swine flu and scores more reported feeling ill.
The the new cases in Japan come as latest World Health Organisation figures show confirmed cases have soared beyond eight-thousand .. with India and Turkey reporting first infections.
In Japan .. the eight confirmed cases are students at a high school and another nine school students are considered suspected cases in nearby Osaka city.
Meanwhile .. a third confirmed swine flu case on the Chinese mainland has been reported in Beijing.
The latest World Health Organisation shows confirmed cases have soared beyond eight-thousand as India and Turkey report first infections.
