QLD: Wild weather to continue in southeast QLD

Wild weather and rising flood waters that left one man dead and wreaked havoc on southeast Queensland are forecast to continue today and tomorrow.
The SES says it's received more than one thousand calls for assistance as the worst weather in decades has dumped up to 300 millimetres of rain in the area from Tuesday.
The weather bureau's issued a severe weather warning for today .. for coastal areas south of the Sunshine Coast to the New South Wales border.
Moderate to heavy falls are expected as the low pressure system moves south with flood warnings in force for coastal streams between Noosa and Coolangatta.
Wind gusts up to 100 kilometres per hour are expected near the coast and adjoining inland areas south of Brisbane .. but contracting to the southern Gold Coast.
Tides will be higher than normal and may exceed the highest tide levels of the year .. threatening low lying coastal areas.
The dangerous surf conditions along Queensland's southeast coast are expected to continue for the rest of the week.
Brisbane was in chaos late yesterday after falls of up to 300 millimetres of rain in 24 hours.
Strong winds claimed a life .. after a man was hit in the chest by shards of flying glass when the window blew in at a building in Surfers Paradise.
Tens of thousands of homes lost power in the Brisbane and Gold Coast regions .. and thousands of students were sent home early from schools throughout the region.
