NSW: Man arrested after woman stabbed in throat

SYDNEY, May 21 AAP - A man has been arrested over a violent attack on a woman repeatedly stabbed in the throat and head in her suburban Sydney home, police say.
Emergency service crews were called to a unit in Sinclair Road at Liverpool in Sydney's southwest about 9.20am (AEST) on Thursday following reports of an injured woman.
Police said the woman suffered multiple stab wounds to her head and neck after a man entered the unit.
The 37-year-old was rushed to Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition and she is undergoing emergency surgery.
"Police searching the area located a man in the grounds of a unit block nearby about 11.30am," police said in a statement.
He was arrested and taken to Green Valley police station where he is being questioned.
No charges have yet been laid and it's not known whether the woman knew her alleged attacker.
