ASIA: N Korea confirms second 'more powerful' nuclear test

North Korea says it's staged a successful underground nuclear weapons test .. more powerful than its previous test of an atomic bomb almost three years ago.
The Korean Central News Agency reports the North has successfully conducted one more underground nuclear test today .. as part of measures to bolster up its nuclear deterrent for self-defence.
It says the results resolve scientific and technological problems arising in further increasing the power of nuclear weapons and steadily developing nuclear technology.
The brief report has given no details of the location of the test .. but South Korean officials say a tremor was detected around the northeastern town of Kilju .. near where the first test was conducted in October 2006.
