27 May 2009 4:44 PM
A civilian operator in Queensland who took two calls about a murder .. at Maroochydore's police communication centre on Monday night .. will be quizzed today to find out why they weren't followed through.
Queensland Police Commissioner BOB ATKINSON's launched an inquiry into the calls he says were likely related to the murder of a 48-year-old man from Nambour .. on the Sunshine Coast.
Senior officers from the Ethical Standards Command are expected to interview the operator today.
Mr ATKINSON says the operator would normally pass the information on to the duty sergeant .. but it doesn't appear that happened.
He says it's of great concern that if the information was acted upon .. the murder may have been prevented .. but it's still unclear whether the call was made before or after the murder.
A 23-year-old man has been charged with murder and a 17-year-old woman has been charged with being an accessary.
