SYDNEY, June 22 AAP - One person died and several others were injured in a seven-vehicle crash that closed the Pacific Highway on the NSW mid-north coast.
The seven vehicles, including two trucks, collided on the highway at Johns River, between Taree and Port Macquarie, about 5.30pm (AEST) on Monday.
Police said one person died at the scene, on the Stewart River Bridge, while several others were being treated.
The highway was expected to remain closed in both directions for several hours as police investigated the circumstances of the crash.
Motorists were being urged to avoid the area, and to use the New England or Oxley highways instead.
