Fed: New OzCar attack falls flat as parliament breaks
26 Jun 2009 2:34 AM
After a week of Ozcar intrigue and Utegate aggro .. parliamentarians have gone on to their winter break .. after a last battle of words yesterday.
A new line of attack on Prime Minister KEVIN RUDD'S friendship with Ipswich car dealer JOHN GRANT fell flat on the last day of sitting.
Liberal TONY ABBOTT asked whether Mr GRANT and others raised money for Mr RUDD's legal bill in 2002 in a fight over aircraft noise .. only to be told it's all on the members' register of pecuniary interests.
Meanwhile .. Mr TURNBULL and senior Liberal Senator ERIC ABETZ refused to comment on a claim they met Treasury official GODWIN GRECH before he gave evidence to a Senate inquiry into the OzCar bill.
Parliament will sit again in six weeks .. with the government saying it'll push the opposition to take a stance on the the emissions trading scheme as soon as it can.
