US: US stocks rise on better-than-expected earnings

US stocks are up again .. a day after a sharp pullback .. as the market digests better-than-expected company earnings and mixed economic data on housing and inflation.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 18.59 points (0.20 per cent) to 9,153.93 in early trades.
The Nasdaq composite climbed 6.02 points (0.31 per cent) to 1,936.86.
The broad-market Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 1.39 points (0.14 per cent) to 981.12.
