US: Obama gives Fed chairman Bernanke second term

US President BARACK OBAMA has awarded Federal Reserve Chairman BEN BERNANKE a second term .. charging him with steering the US economy out of the worst slump since the 1930s.
OBAMA says Bernanke has led the Fed through one of the worst financial crises that the United States and the world have ever faced.
He says that as an expert on the 1930s Great Depression .. and because of his background .. temperament .. courage and creativity .. BERNANKE is the ideal man to help lead the economic recovery.
OBAMA says the US economy has a long way to go before it reaches full recovery.
