SYDNEY, Sept 11 AAP - The public's view on nuclear power will be tested in a study funded by the federal government, The Australian reports.
The research has been backed by the Australian Research Council, a government authority, despite Prime Minister Kevin Rudd's opposition to the country going nuclear, the paper said on Friday.
The project will conducted by a top scholarly body, the National Academies Forum, at a cost of $133,500, The Australian said.
Project leader Daniela Stehlik, a professor of sociology at Curtain University of Technology in Perth, told The Australian the study would test whether concerns about climate change were causing attitudes to shift towards the more emissions-friendly option of nuclear power.
