WASHINGTON, Sept 15 AFP - US support for the war in Afghanistan has hit a new low, according to a poll released on Tuesday.
The CNN Opinion Research poll showed record levels of opposition to the eight-year-old conflict, with 58 per cent of respondents saying they opposed the conflict, while 39 per cent were in favour.
The poll surveyed 1,012 Americans on September 11-13 and had a three per cent margin of error.
A previous CNN poll released two weeks ago showed 57 per cent of Americans opposed to the war in Afghanistan.
In July, 54 per cent of those polled said they were against the war, already steeply up from 46 per cent in April.
Two years ago, the US public was more evenly divided on the conflict, with 50 per cent in favour and 48 per cent opposed, CNN polls showed.
