NEW YORK, Sept 22 AFP - Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas has insisted that Israel must halt settlement construction after trilateral talks hosted by US President Barack Obama aimed at relaunching the peace process.
"We insisted on the need for Israel to respect its commitments, notably an end to settlement construction in all its forms, including natural growth," Abbas told Palestinian journalists on Tuesday.
He was speaking after a three-way summit in New York's Waldorf Astoria hotel with Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
