Dow hits 10,000 points for first time in a year

The Dow Jones blue-chip index has risen above 10 thousand points for the first time since October 2008 as US stocks power higher.
Cries of joy rang out at the New York Stock Exchange as the Dow Jones hit the ten thousand mark .. after hovering around the key level for several minutes.
